Islay & Jura Credit Union

Not for profit, not for charity, but for service.

How to join the Credit Union

To be eligible to join, you must be at least 16 years old and live or work on Islay or Jura.

You will need to complete a Membership form, which can be obtained at one of the Collection Points, or you can print a copy.   Take your completed form to a Collection Point, together with photo identification and proof of your address.  A driving licence is ideal, as it has both, but a passport, bus pass, Young Scot card or similar are all acceptable.  For proof of address, you can use a Council Tax bill, utility bill, bank statement, letter from your landlord or something similar, dated within the last six months.

You also need £1.00 membership fee, and a minimum of £1.00 to start your savings.

If you want to join and are unable to attend at a Collection Point, please contact us and we will make an alternative arrangement.

Once your application has been processed, you will be issued with a passbook in which all your future transactions should be recorded.  Remember to bring this book with you whenever you visit a Collection Point, and always enclose it when applying for a loan or share withdrawal.

After joining, you can use any of our Collection Points, not just the one at which you joined.

It is important to keep your details up-to-date.  If there are any changes, please complete a Change of Details Form, available to download or from a Collection Point.
